Pride Visits Honda Day @ Atco Raceway
Posted by Will on 4/19/2011 to Pride Performance Events
This past weekend we ventured out to Atco Raceway to visit one of the largest Honda events, Honda Day. Our plan was to show our shop/my personal recently completed Kraftwerks supercharged S2000. I was also excited to see what Honda Day was all about since this was my first visit to this popular event.

Unfortunately, even with heading out early we ran into a traffic jam right outside the raceway. After sitting on this line for nearly an hour we finally made our way to the opening gates.

Due to the ultra high volume of people at this event, we were told all slots for showing were closed and we had to take our small entourage to the dirt parking area. Only at Honda Day will you see an S2000 being blocked in for security with a Ferrari and a RE-Amemiya kitted RX-7... lol.

Bummed from our inability to get the cars into the event, we started making our way in to see what Honda Day had to offer.

We started our tour with a visit to see what vendors were offering for the Honda market. We were surprised that there wasn't more of a presence by aftermarket companies displaying products. One product that did catch our eye, was this 4 channel wideband setup by AEM. This looks like a nice setup to have to help increase the precision of a tune. We're looking forward to getting to try to these out.

At The Speed Lounge booth, we spotted these head turning Honda's with matching Honda Ruckus scooters.

The attention to detail was spot on!

At the Burns Honda booth, I spotted the new Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid. Sharp looking car in person, the red complimented it well. I'm really looking forward to see how the aftermarket will progress for this new wave of sport hybrid's.

This Honda Fit was looking pretty good at the EAT SLEEP RACE booth.

We made our way over to the pit to check out some of the race cars in attendance. It's crazy how fast these front wheel drive Honda's are making their way down the quarter mile.

The guys at NRG Tech pushed this Civic hatch to 8.86 @ 171mph that day !

The all motor guys were out in full effect as well. These guys were easy to spot with their ITB horns sticking out of the hood.

Spotting the custom tags on some of these cars were great. Almost everyone had something crafty to say.

My personal favorite belonging to this Civic coupe. The "F YOUR K" is in reference to its S2000 F-Series powerplant. A friendly f**k you to everyone running the ever popular K-Series motor.

This driver was proud of its Jersey roots. I didn't get a peek of the driver but anything un-Jersey Shore is a positive look for New Jersey.

Amazing how menacing you can make these cars look. These cars scream serious business.

We started making our way over to the track to watch some of the runs. On our way there we made a stop at the Clutchmasters tent.

Pretty impression bits of machinery. It was interesting watching the crews prepping these cars for their passes. We spotted the crew corner balancing the Integra with the JDM front. Not being a huge follower of drag racing, I was surprised to see the crew performing such adjustments. I figured suspension adjustments of this kind would be something more suited for a road course car.

On our way to the track, I was able to peep the staging lanes. It was obvious to see the car of choice that day was the Honda Civic.

The venue was packed out. It was hard to stand around without being shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you.

The drag racers put on a good show. The reactions from the crowd added to the excitement. Anything running 10 seconds and under had a World Cup Soccer crowd cheer/excitement going on.

Killing a good portion of the day watching the races, we made our way to the car show segment which we were denied entry earlier.

Through the sea of Altezza tail lights, Lambo doors and crooked license plates - I was able to pick these guys out.

Walking around the event, we were curious to see what other makes were present in attendance.

We spotted this super clean Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Bringing a Ferrari and RE-Amemiya fitted Mazda RX-7, we thought we would be turning heads for non Honda cars present...

Until we stumbled on this...

Of all the places I'd never think to see this rare gem - we stumbled on this R30 Nissan Skyline RS-Turbo. Truly a clean car being meticulously kept up by its owner. Simply gorgeous!

Being my first Honda Day visit, I was kind of bummed by the lack of presence of S2000's. There were a few clean examples but nothing that really stuck out, that really made go "wow".

As we were making our exit, through the gate we spotted these guys making their entrance...

These pair of S2000 beauties were all I needed to fulfill my S2000 Honda Day void.

All in all, the event was pretty nice. The night before, it had rained severely leaving a lot  of people questioning if Honda Day was still going to happen. Through the beginning of the morning, the weather started clearing up and the Sun finally made its way through.

According to Honda Day's web site, this event broke the record for most people in attendance. To the point that people were denied entry, the town of Atco had to be shut down to non-local residents and traffic had to be re-routed.

We're looking forward to the next event at Raceway Park!
